Rivers State EXCO Endorses N1.85 Trillion Budget for 2026

The Rivers State Executive Council has given the green light to a proposed N1.85 trillion budget for 2026,  tagging it the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development.”

The approval was announced on Friday, January 2, at Government House, Port Harcourt, during a meeting led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Prof. Peter Medee, the Special Adviser on Economic Matters, said the budget will prioritise the completion of existing projects and the settlement of pending state obligations. Key areas earmarked for investment include infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth empowerment, human capacity development, culture, tourism, and ICT.

It remains unclear whether the budget has been forwarded to the Rivers State House of Assembly for further scrutiny and legislative approval.
