Philanthropist Henry Ifechukwu Ofili, founder of the Henry Ifechukwu Ofili Foundation, has announced his defection to the Accord Party following his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ofili made the announcement known in a statement he signed personally on Tuesday, noting that the move marks a new phase in his political journey and a renewed commitment to the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.
He explained that the decision followed careful reflection and extensive consultations with stakeholders, supporters, and constituents, adding that it was driven by the need to align with a platform that prioritises inclusiveness, people-centred governance, and grassroots service.
According to him, the move is aimed at better positioning himself to effectively represent, listen to, and advocate for the interests of his constituents.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and progress of the people, stressing that his decision was guided by a sincere desire to serve more effectively while upholding the ideals of responsive leadership, accountability, and community development.
Ofili, however, expressed appreciation to members and leaders of the APC for their support and collaboration during his time in the party.
He also called on his supporters to join him in this new phase of service under the Accord Party.
