Following his recent alignment with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended the Chairman of its Caretaker Committee in Rivers State, Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor.
PDP noted that Ewor’s actions were not in alignment with his position and posed a threat to the stability and survival of the PDP in the state, leading to his suspension both as Caretaker Committee chairman and as a member of the party.
Following the decision, the Secretary of the Rivers State Caretaker Committee, Chief Ogbam Ojimah, has assumed leadership of the committee.
Speaking after an emergency meeting of the Caretaker Committee on Saturday, Ojimah said Ewor had, by his actions, effectively relinquished his position by associating with Wike, who he noted had been expelled from the PDP.
Ojimah reaffirmed the committee’s loyalty to the party leadership under former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, popularly known as Turaki, stressing that Wike remains expelled and that any form of association with him is unacceptable.
He further stated that the FCT minister had no authority to interfere in the affairs of the PDP, adding that the Rivers Caretaker Committee had dissociated itself completely from Ewor’s actions.
