Following the abduction of residents in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has appealed for a coordinated response centred on the safe return of the victims rather than political debate.
Speaking in reaction to the incident, Sani said the immediate task was to support ongoing efforts to free those held captive, expressing confidence in the ability of the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to handle the situation. He noted that the rescue of the abducted persons remained the most pressing concern.
The former lawmaker condemned the attack and acknowledged measures taken by the administration of Governor Uba Sani to address insecurity in the state. According to him, the government has recorded notable improvements in security over the past two years, despite the latest incident.
Sani cautioned against turning the kidnapping into a political issue, stressing that periods of crisis required cooperation rather than division. He said individuals and groups with the capacity to assist should prioritise practical contributions aimed at securing the victims’ release.
He also observed that attacks were often directed at communities with limited protection, underscoring the need for sustained commitment in confronting criminal activity.
The kidnapping in Kajuru has renewed attention on ongoing security challenges in parts of Kaduna State, prompting calls for continued collaboration among government authorities, security agencies and local communities to address banditry and related threats.
