The Chairman of the APC in Plateau State, Rufus Bature, formally presented the party’s membership card to the governor on Friday in Jos, marking his entry into the party.
Speaking at the event, Governor Mutfwang said his decision to join the APC was taken in the overall interest of Plateau State. He assured residents that his administration would remain inclusive despite the change in political affiliation, urging the people to remain united.
He described his defection as a step taken in faith, expressing confidence that the state would benefit from the new political alignment. Acknowledging concerns from some quarters, the governor called for patience, insisting that time would justify his decision.
Mutfwang encouraged those who were apprehensive to remain calm, assuring them of continuity and stability in governance. He said his administration was committed to collaboration and collective progress.
The governor also expressed gratitude to members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), his former party, for providing him with a platform throughout his political career. He noted that the move to the APC would further motivate him to deliver effective and quality leadership to the state.
Mutfwang thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his affection and support for Plateau State, and pledged to back the President’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
