Dr. Kaumi Zulum, younger brother of Babagana Umara Zulum, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Dikwa/Konduga/Mafa Federal Constituency after winning the party’s primary election.
The Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer, Jones Erue, announced the result on Sunday in Maiduguri, stating that Kaumi Zulum emerged unopposed.
Erue, who is also known as Prophet Jones Erue, further declared Fati Alkali as the winner of the APC primary election for the Mobbar/Guzamala/Abadam/Kukawa Federal Constituency.
For the Magumeri/Kaga/Gubio Federal Constituency, Usman Zannah emerged as the party’s candidate, while Ahmed Jaha secured the APC ticket for the Gwoza/Chibok/Damboa Federal Constituency.
In Jere Federal Constituency, Satomi Ahmed was returned as the APC candidate.
Abdulkadir Rahis won the APC primary for the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council Federal Constituency after polling 38,576 votes.
Similarly, Mustapha Abdullahi clinched the party’s ticket for the Bama/Ngala/Kala Balge Federal Constituency with 20,509 votes.
The primary election for the Askira/Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency was declared inconclusive following a petition lodged by aspirant Audu Zali.
According to Erue, the committee will await the report of the appeal committee before announcing a final result for the constituency.
He added that the primaries were conducted peacefully in nine out of Borno State’s 10 federal constituencies, with the majority of candidates emerging through consensus arrangements.
