The Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, has stated that ensuring consistent, affordable, and sustainable electricity will be a top priority for the Federal Government this year.
In a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Mr Bolaji Tunji, the minister outlined plans to strengthen the national grid, expand transmission networks, and work closely with electricity distribution companies to enhance service delivery.
Adelabu noted that the government’s “Light Up Nigeria” initiative will continue to target industrial zones and agricultural hubs to boost economic growth and create jobs, while renewable energy projects such as solar and hydropower will be intensified to reach underserved communities.
Reflecting on 2025, he highlighted progress made in stabilising the grid and credited the Presidential Power Initiative, known as the Siemens deal, with reducing previous disruptions.
The minister also called on citizens to support reforms by safeguarding power infrastructure and practising energy efficiency, stressing that national development depends on collective responsibility. He extended New Year greetings to residents of Oyo State, promising tangible improvements in electricity supply in the coming months.
