Mrs Regina Akume, wife of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency lawmaker, Senator George Akume, has publicly reaffirmed her love and loyalty to her husband, insisting that she remains married to him despite circulating rumours.
Speaking in a viral video during a New Year Mass, Mrs Akume addressed congregants in an emotional but resolute tone, emphasising that her family remains united. “I want to tell the world that I still love Mr George (Akume). He is my husband,” she stated, pointing to their children seated with the congregation.
“That is his son sitting there, and that is also his daughter,” she added, naming the children. Dismissing public speculation, she affirmed: “That is my man and that is my husband. I have no other husband but him. I do not care what the world says,” prompting applause from worshippers.
Mrs Akume also recounted a recent medical challenge, describing it as a difficult period that tested her faith and resilience. She said she received divine healing and has now fully recovered. “I thank God for granting me healing and making me healthy again,” she said.
Reaffirming her Christian faith, she praised God as supreme and incomparable. “He is the Almighty Father. There is none like Him, and there is no power that is above His power,” she declared. She further underscored Christian beliefs on redemption, noting that no earthly sacrifice equals that of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Her comments come amid heightened public interest in the Akume family following reports that the SGF had reportedly taken another wife, sparking discussions across political and social circles.
