President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals to key positions across 10 federal government agencies and commissions, including the appointment of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, announced on Monday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.
According to the statement, Fayose will chair the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three serving executive directors will complete the board.
President Tinubu also reconstituted the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission by appointing retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman.
Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde were appointed as commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states, respectively.
Other members appointed to the commission include Dr Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Florence Tor, Engineer Lawrence Okoh and Bello Morenike Iyabode.
The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju from his position as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
In other appointments, Dr Abuh Mohammed was named Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), while Dr Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET).
Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
For the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), President Tinubu appointed Engineer Julius Oloro as Chief Executive Officer, replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
The President also inaugurated a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), naming Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.
Other members of the commission are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
In the education sector, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. He succeeds Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue his governorship ambition in Benue State.
Iorja is an economist, legal scholar and academic who currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
The Presidency said all the appointments became effective immediately.
