Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has linked his administration’s continuity beyond 2026 to what he described as divine guidance and public confidence, as labour leaders and religious figures publicly signalled support for his second-term ambition during an interfaith prayer session in Osogbo.
The governor spoke on Monday at the state secretariat during a New Year inter-religious prayer attended by workers, labour leaders and clerics from the Christian and Muslim communities. In his address, Adeleke reflected on the challenges his administration has faced since assuming office and expressed confidence that they would be surmounted, including those associated with the forthcoming governorship election.
Adeleke attributed what he described as the survival and progress of his government over the past three years to faith, saying his administration had recorded “several victories” despite opposition and obstacles. He told the gathering that his government had remained intact through periods of political and economic pressure.
Reviewing his tenure, the governor said his administration had pursued policies aimed at improving welfare across sectors. He cited interventions for senior citizens and low-income residents, road and bridge rehabilitation, support for artisans, and measures taken in the education and health sectors. Adeleke also referenced efforts to address outstanding half-salary payments and pension arrears, which he said were previously considered unresolvable.
He added that his government had prioritised internal economic circulation within the state and taken steps to reduce barriers for investors, while maintaining what he described as a people-centred approach to governance.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Osun State, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, said organised labour had resolved to support Adeleke’s re-election in the governorship poll scheduled for August 8, 2026.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasaun, alongside the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the state, Dr John Adeleke, acknowledged the governor’s consistent participation in religious activities and offered prayers for the state and the administration as it approaches another election cycle.
