World heavyweight boxing champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has sent a heartfelt message to his former rival, Anthony Joshua, following a fatal road accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
The crash, which occurred on Monday, reportedly left Joshua injured after a vehicle conveying members of his team collided with a stationary truck by the roadside. Two of Joshua’s close associates were confirmed dead in the incident.
Usyk, who recently visited Nigeria, reacted to the development via a message posted with his official Instagram handle, expressing deep sorrow over the loss and offering words of encouragement to the British boxer.
“This is an unbelievable loss. Sina and Latz were two incredible people who were not only part of AJ’s team, but also friends,” Usyk wrote.
“My sincere condolences to their families, loved ones and everyone who knew them. Anthony Joshua, wishing you a speedy recovery. Stay strong, champion.”
