Nigerian Army Commences Recruitment For Direct Short Service

The Nigerian Army has invited eligible Nigerians to apply for commission as Direct Short Service Commission officers in Course 29/2026, targeting both civilians and serving military personnel in specialised corps including Engineers, Signals, Medical, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and Education.

According to flyers shared by the army on Tuesday via their official social media handles, applications are free and must be submitted online via www.recruitment.army.mil.ng from January 7 to February 4, 2026. Interested candidates are advised to review detailed entry requirements on the portal, which include Nigerian citizenship, age limits (20-32 years generally, 25-40 for medical consultants), medical fitness, good character references, minimum Second Class Upper degree or Upper Credit HND, NYSC certificate, and professional registrations where applicable.

The DSSC offers a 15-year initial service period with probation for the first three years, potential conversion to regular commission, and opportunities for professional growth. Successful applicants will undergo cadet training, with ranks granted upon completion.

For inquiries, contact 08179269294 or 08109959294 daily between 8am and 6pm. The Army emphasised that only post-secondary credentials from 2011 onwards will be considered, and applicants must present original documents during interviews.

This recruitment drive aims to bolster specialised capabilities in the Army, aligning with ongoing efforts to enhance national defence and professional expertise. Prospective applicants are urged to apply early through official channels to avoid fraud.
