Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has sent New Year greetings to residents of the state, urging them to embrace 2026 with renewed hope, unity and a shared commitment to progress.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor expressed gratitude to God for His protection and sustenance over Delta State and its people in the past year, describing the New Year as a period of fresh beginnings and collective responsibility.
Governor Oborevwori called on Deltans to reflect on the lessons of the previous year and look ahead with optimism, courage and a united sense of purpose, stressing that the modest but meaningful gains recorded across key sectors were made possible by the resilience, patience and peaceful disposition of the people.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by residents, noting that their support and commitment to peace had enabled the government to implement impactful policies and programmes despite prevailing challenges.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to people-centred governance, the governor said the aspirations, concerns and welfare of Deltans would remain central to government actions in the New Year. He disclosed that greater emphasis would be placed on infrastructure renewal, job creation, youth empowerment, security enhancement and inclusive economic growth in line with the state’s MORE Agenda.
The governor also urged residents to continue to shun violence and embrace peaceful coexistence, emphasising that lasting peace remained the bedrock for sustainable development and social harmony.
He appealed to political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration with the government, stressing that building a stronger and more prosperous Delta State was a collective responsibility.
While wishing residents a peaceful and prosperous 2026, Governor Oborevwori assured that his administration would remain steadfast in delivering policies and projects aimed at improving the quality of life of all Deltans and positioning the state on a path of sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
